Above all else, try to get a referral from someone you trust. There’s nothing better than first-hand experience from a friend or family member.

If not, make sure:

1. To read their online reviews
2. The inspector is a full-time professional
3. The inspector belongs to a professional organization like ASHI^™ or Inter NACHI^®.
4. You understand what they’re inspecting
5. The inspector carries Errors & Omissions and General Liability insurance (to protect you and them if the inspector misses something).
6. They’re responsive, and you get along with them
